ISSUES: And observations

| September 23, 2020 1:00 AM

(1) If I lived in California or Oregon, I would sell and move to North Idaho with a pocket full of cash and buy property and drive the price and property tax up so the existing workers, seniors and middle class are just about priced out of being able to keep a home.

(2) Chief White of Coeur d’Alene Police Department is one of the best chiefs we ever had in this city.

(3) Commissioner Bill Brooks is spot on when he recommends part-time County Commissioner Board from five to seven districts and full-time County Manager like the cities in the county already have. This would equalize districts and avoid a quasi form of gerrymandering.

(4) We can put men on the moon and rovers on Mars, but we cannot get the sewer lids to be level with the city and county roads.

(5) Growth will kill the good life in Coeur d’Alene if it has not already. You control growth by electing politicians who are opposed to growth and dump the Planning and Zoning Commission members who support growth. It is not rocket science to know how best to control growth. We always have a moratorium available as well as recall of pro-growth politicians.

(6) I suspect the non-mask wearing males in Kootenai County do so for First Amendment Free Speech or high testosterone; and probably are the same males who never lift the toilet seat.
