Start your engines
One after the the other, cars zipped along Coeur d’Alene Lake Drive on a late Saturday afternoon. Big and small, colorful, low-riders, sleek, quick, they kept coming, in groups of three, four or five or more, headed toward Higgens Point, the designated gathering point for the car meet, before Gov. Brad Little’s stay-home order last week.
About 50 vehicles were later lined up and on display and around the parking lot at Higgens, some hoods open. Meanwhile, young adults wandered about, chatting, checking things out, looking on.
Now, when young men and women in fast cars meet, you might expect there to be some shouting, swearing and staring and racing. None of that. Organizers try to keep it clean and trouble-free. Other than a few burn-outs, all was calm and well and after an hour or so, most headed back the way they came.
Before the coronavirus directives took hold, this group met in different places just to gather, kick back, impress and show off. Now, all is quiet. So they wait.
“This group is intended to provide members of the Spokane/CDA car community with information on meets, cruises and car related events. Please, no drama and no for sale posts,” it reads on Facebook site, “Spokane/CDA Cars Meets & Cruises.”

Last meet for a while hosted by us admin till all this goes away tonight at 9pm art thrift store across from Wendy’s same rules apply no garbage no burn outs no bs we are trying to keep it on the Downlow and then cruise at 10pm up division you new freeway Frances and back on Division please be respectful last meet don’t miss out

To the people that are setting up Higgins meets let’s chill it alittle with the burn out and stupid *** that’s going on there! We have that spot that cops don’t mess with us if we just chilling and not doing anything stupid like fireworks and burnouts and racing let’s respect the spot we get to use and not ruin it for everyone else that just wants to hang out and see cars go out the the hwys or back roads to do that stupid ***. The cops will start making it so we can’t go to Higgins anymore if everyone keeps it up. Thanks
