Retirement open house for fire spokesman Lyon on Friday

RATHDRUM — A retirement open house for Northern Lakes Fire District spokesman Jim Lyon will be held on Friday from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. The public is invited.

The event at the fire station in Rathdrum, 13876 Highway 53, celebrates Lyon's 15 years of fire service in Kootenai County. Northern Lakes covers Hayden and Rathdrum.

Lyon previously also worked for Post Falls-based Kootenai County Fire and Rescue.

A former teacher, Lyon's fire service duties have included youth education, media relations, inspections and other duties.
