More white is on the way for the Coeur d’Alene area in what has already been the snowiest February on record for the Lake City.

So far this month, nearly 40 inches of snow has been recorded, easily eclipsing the former February record for Coeur d’Alene of 26.5 inches posted in 1949, according to the National Weather Service.

The forecast calls for a 70 percent chance of snow today with up to 3 inches accumulation possible. Blustery conditions with northeast winds gusting to 25 mph are expected with highs near 29 degrees and a low of around 22.

Another round of snow is expected Thursday with 1 to 3 inches forecast and a high of 31 degrees.

Don’t expect the snow to go anywhere soon. Through Monday temperatures are expected to remain at or below freezing. Sunny skies are forecast for the weekend with lows in the teens.
