Coeur d'Alene Chamber March Happenings
Leadership Coeur d’Alene is a two-year course offered by the Coeur d’Alene Chamber which educates students about regional history, area nonprofits and various industries established in our region therefore encouraging their future engagement in building community. Established in the early 1980s, Leadership Coeur d’Alene is the eldest leadership program of its type in Idaho and has been modeled by Chambers of Commerce and associations throughout the country on its curriculum and mission.
The class, made up of 25 students, spends one full day a month learning and engaging in a variety of topics, programs and history in and surrounding the Coeur d’Alene area. In the first year, the classmates are instructed by a diverse demographic of local leaders. The second year, the students become part of the incoming class session planners. Just as with high school or college graduates, each new class will boast that “their class” is the “best class” and offer a theme for their year. (“Doing More in 2004” — that was mine!)
These Leadership Class graduates will gather at the next Upbeat Breakfast on March 12 at The Coeur d’Alene Resort. At this annual Leadership recognition breakfast, the outgoing class will be recognized and announce their choice of a nonprofit selected for their class donation. The incoming class is introduced and all past graduate in attendance will be recognized. This high energy breakfast meeting is not to be missed as it is one of the favorites of the year for Chamber Members.
Our second ongoing monthly networking opportunity is Business After Hours on March 28 to be held at National Mattress & Furniture on 6235 N. Sunshine St. Suite 3 from 5 to 6:30. This a great night of networking as a fellow Chamber Member hosts and showcases their business — Come get to know them!
The State of the County address will be March 19 from 7:30 to 9:30 at the Best Western CDA Inn. Kootenai County Commissioner Chris Fillios will introduce new Commissioners Leslie Duncan and Bill Brooks along with their team for a county update.
And finally, our largest fundraiser of the year, the Aw$um Auction, is set for April 27. The theme, “Be our Guest,” encourages fun fare of Disney attire and an evening of enchantment. We encourage business of any size to donate items to this event, as it is an amazing way to get their brand in front of the 300-plus guests attending. Tickets are currently on sale at www.cdachamber.com
