Joanne Grace Owen, 82

Beloved wife, mother and grandmother, Joanne Grace Owen, 82, of Kellogg, Idaho, peacefully passed away at her home on Feb. 21, 2019. She was born Dec. 23, 1936, in Oakland, Calif.; the daughter of Archibald and Josephine (Schriber) Armstrong.

Joanne was a new resident of the Silver Valley in Idaho. She lived in Reno, Nev., for over 21 years before traveling the country with her husband for 20 years.

Joanne married her loving husband and best friend of over 64 years, Norman Owen, in 1954, in Castro Valley, Calif. The special bond and love they shared were beyond measure.

Joanne worked at the MGM Hotel in Reno as a receptionist for 21 years. She also held an administrative position for a physician’s office, yet her most rewarding job was as a mother and wife.

Joanne was a proud member of her church at the Calvary Chapel of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. Faith was always an important part of Joanne’s life.

Joanne was a woman of infinite talents. She loved to garden and raised beautiful flowers. Joanne was also an accomplished pianist. She would play piano as her husband would play the French horn to create beautiful music.

Joanne also had a knack for sewing and design. She would design clothes for herself and her family; her fashions have caught the attention of many, but she would only sew and design clothes for her adoring family.

Joanne had an adventurous spirit. She loved to travel in her RV with her beloved husband, Norman and seek adventures throughout the country. She was known for being exceptionally fun, and almost always was the instigator of fun.

Joanne loved and adored her family with all her heart, and she captured theirs. She was a special person who invested herself fully in those she loved. The bonds with her loved ones will forever be cherished.

Joanne is survived by her loving husband, Norman Owen, of their family home in Kellogg; her eldest son, Brian (Valerie) Owen of Hayden, Idaho; her son, Dennis (Stella) Owen of Kellogg; her grandson, Michael (Crystal) Owen of Burley, Idaho; her granddaughter, Crystal (James) Holloway of Hayden; her grandson, Dale Owen of Hayden; her granddaughter, Samantha Owen of Forest Lake, Minn.; her three great-granddaughters: Nova Holloway, Kira Holloway and Nevaeh Owen; her brother, Ronald Armstrong of San Lorenzo, Calif., her nephew, Michael Armstrong of Union City, Calif., and her uncle, Burt Fullerton of Livermore, Calif.

The family suggests that memorials may be made to The Alzheimer’s Association of Coeur d’Alene, 2003 Kootenai Health Way, Coeur d’Alene, ID 83814.
