Fourteen area players on all-star rosters

COEUR d’ALENE — Seven boys and seven girls from North Idaho were named Monday to the Region rosters for the 16th annual Idaho Statewide High School All-Star Basketball Games, scheduled for Saturday, March 23, at North Idaho College’s Rolly Williams Court.

The girls’ game is scheduled for 1 p.m., followed by the boys’ game at 3:30. A 3-point shooting contest and a slam dunk contest will be held between the girls’ and boys’ games.

North Idaho boys selected to play include Kale Edwards, Coeur d’Alene; Jonny Hillman, Genesis Prep; Kon Ajang, Genesis Prep; Donaven Santana, Lewiston; Gabe Quinnett, Moscow; Gavven Desjarlais, Post Falls and Zack Welch, Wallace. Josiah Haaland of Lakeland is an alternate.

North Idaho girls selected to play include Kelly Horning, Coeur d’Alene; Bella Murekatete, Genesis Prep; Rachel Schroeder, Genesis Prep; Bridget Rieken, Lake City; Dejah Wilson, Lake City; Kendyll Kinzer, Lewiston; and McKeeley Tonkin, Timberlake. Alternates include Sara Muehlhausen, Lake City; Kaci Haeg, St. Maries; and Brooke Stevens. James Anderson of Lake City is the Region girls coach.

With a few exceptions, the game, limited to seniors, pits players from the Boise area (Metro) vs. players from the rest of the state (Region).

Admission to the games is $10 for adults and $5 for students and senior citizens.

The games are presented by Idaho Central Credit Union.
