CARTOON: A conservative assault

| February 24, 2019 12:00 AM

Hard to miss the vicious cartoon attack on Alexandra Ocasio-Cortez in the Feb. 17 newspaper. It is an ugly cartoon of pure hate, and likely fear. Of course, as even a grade-school bully knows, the best way to demean a woman is to make her appear ugly. I haven’t researched everything the cartoonist ridicules, but I believe plastic straws are a problem in our oceans, coal burning damages air quality and I fear Trump.

And, to back up the cartoon is Phil Morgan’s frantic rant that we will be transformed into a slave state. I can’t say I think all of Ocasio-Cortez’s ideas are feasible, or practical, but eliminating plastic straws won’t hurt anyone. I can envision Morgan running around his house, screaming we are all going to die, we are all going to die. As is common with conservative rants, he assumes all of us who tend to be more liberal, and probably more practical, have never accomplished anything or been a productive citizen.

P.S. To The Press, thanks for your clarification of the media maze. I find my media sources in the neutral or skews-left category.
