Carol Ann (Kroetch) McNabb, 81

Carol Ann (Kroetch) McNabb passed away on Thursday, Feb. 14, 2019. She was the fifth child of six children born to Calistus A. Kroetch and Margaret Ann (Desboro) Kroetch, in Spokane, Wash. She was raised in Spokane and graduated from Holy Names Academy in 1955.

Carol Ann married Robert G. “Bob” McNabb, Jr. on July 23, 1955. They were married for 42 years prior to his death. In 1981 they moved to Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, and spent much time boating on the lake. They also enjoyed traveling around the country for Bob’s work conventions. Mostly she enjoyed traveling to California to visit her brothers and take her grandchildren to Disneyland.

Besides being a busy homemaker raising seven children, Carol Ann had many hobbies including sewing, needlepoint, cross-stitch, furniture refinishing, gardening and reading. She was an avid walker and went for long walks around Coeur d’Alene almost every day. She worked for a time doing secretarial work for Bob’s insurance business. Carol Ann volunteered for the Camp Fire Girls at Assumption Church and taught religious education classes at St. Pius X Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bob; and four brothers: Tom, Edmund, Bob and Jim Kroetch. She is survived by one brother, Dan (Connie) Kroetch of Spokane, Wash. She is also survived by her seven children: Cheri (Joe) Hodl of Post Falls, Idaho; Bob (Cathy) McNabb of Coeur d’Alene; Tom (Cherie) McNabb of Vancouver, Wash.; Terry (Denise) McNabb of Bonney Lake, Wash.; Dan (Christine) McNabb of Bonney Lake; Heidi (Lee) Ely of Coeur d’Alene and Michelle McNabb of Weston, Mass. She is also survived by 20 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Carol Ann’s Memorial Mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 16, 2019, at St. George’s Catholic Church, 2010 N. Lucas St., Post Falls, Idaho. Memorial contributions in Carol Ann’s name may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association. The family would like to thank Dawn Hayden and everyone at Hayden Country Guest Home Assisted Living for the loving care they gave to Carol Ann for the past several years.
