J.A. Bertsch Heating and Cooling Services has moved from Hayden to a new location in Coeur d’Alene. The business can now be found at 3645 N. Government Way, a block north of Costco.

The move is much needed, said owner Joel Bertsch—and a long time coming, since the new building was purchased two years ago.

“We had outgrown our old location,” he said. “We wanted something with more space that was built for what we do.”

Formerly a pawn shop, the building has been completely renovated and even has a new parking lot. The process took about six months and was completed in December.

The new location features a showroom where customers can see display products, including fireplaces, furnaces, Traegers and more. The old site couldn’t accommodate such a space.

“People can come in and see what we’re doing,” said service manager Blaine Scholin. “If they’re interested in heating and air, we’re open.”

There’s more office space for dispatch and sales staff, with room to expand in the future, as well as more space for equipment and trucks. The new building also has a dedicated training room, so J.A. Bertsch can host more in-house training from manufacturers.

Because the new location was renovated with the business in mind, it’s expected to make it possible for the team at J.A. Bertsch to provide customers with faster, smoother service. With 34 years of experience, services include air-conditioning, furnaces, heat pumps, water heaters, gas fireplaces, thermostats, duct cleaning and indoor air quality.

“It’s going to increase our efficiency, from the minute a call first comes in from a potential client, all the way to the end,” Bertsch said. “Whether we’re going to do a service or install a new system, it gives us the flexibility to do all of that better.”

Increased parking, a larger shop and a more central location will also help J.A. Bertsch service their clients better.

“We’re better organized because we have more space,” Scholin said. “It’s easier to load up and get going.”

A lifelong resident of Kootenai County, Bertsch said this investment into a new property is a demonstration of his commitment to current and future clients, as well as to the community.

“We’re here to stay,” he said. “This is my hometown. We’re investing in our future, our client’s future and our employee’s future.”

J.A. Bertsch Heating and Cooling is located at 3645 N. Government Way in Coeur d’Alene. The business is open 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays, with technicians on call 24 hours a day.
