St. Maries has
two champs, takes
second at districts
OROFINO — Dylan Sotin (98 pounds) and Hayden Villa (138) won titles for St. Maries at the 2A District 1-2 wrestling tournament Saturday.
The Lumberjacks had 15 top-four placers, including runners-up Myles Hanson (113), Ethan Villa (120), Gage Norton (152), Shaun Anderson (160) and Kyle Siebert (195), third-place finishers Kobe Burris (113), Sam Martin (132), Trysten Lockridge (152) and Steven Toland (195); and fourth-place finishers Ryan Vannater (120), Hunter Norris (126), Philip Hunter (138) and Delbert Lambson (220).
For Kootenai, Justin Bussdieker was third at 98 and Abe Ice was fourth at 160.
Austin McKennon of Wallace won a district title at 106, and Myles Hayman was second at 285.
Clearwater Valley won the team title with 220 points. St. Maries was second with 197.
The top three finishers in each weight automatically qualify for state, which is Friday and Saturday at Holt Arena in Pocatello. The next highest seed in each weight among the fourth-place finishers statewide also qualifies.
