Seniors lead 'Jacks past Wallace

ST. MARIES — Senior Dan Howard scored 15 points on 6-of-7 shooting as the 2A Lumberjacks romped past the 1A Division I Miners 70-49 on senior day Saturday.

All five seniors had their moments for St. Maries (14-6). Jackson Pritchard had 12 points, five steals and five rebounds; Tyler Lohman had eight points and seven rebounds; Coy Sands had eight points, three assists and three steals, “and was responsible for holding (Zack) Welch in check,” coach Bryan Chase said; and Kaden Hammond had seven points and five assists.

Triston Neubauer led Wallace (17-3) with 15 points. Welch, who scored 52 points in a game earlier this season, finished with eight.

St. Maries plays Orofino on Monday at 5 p.m. at Troy in the first round of the 2A District 1 tournament. Wallace (17-3) plays Potlatch, the third-place finisher from the Whitepine League, on Thursday in a District 1-2 play-in game.

Tyler Ambro scored 14 points for Lakeside (13-6, 6-3 NSL), which plays Genesis Prep on Monday at Post Falls Middle School.

Cameron Garcia scored 18 points for Clark Fork (1-13, 0-10 NSL), which visits Mullan on Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. in a loser-out game of the 1A Division II District 1 tournament.
