POEM: For Valentine's Day

| February 13, 2019 12:00 AM

She told him to write her a love poem,

But a love poem that would truly capture her heart,

A love poem that could take her breath away,

A love poem from which her soul would never part,

“My dearest allow me to love you by letting me do the dishes,

Allow me to tuck in our kids to bed tonight,

Please just rest your soul in peace,

And bask your heart in your deepest delight,

Allow me to love you by letting me do the laundry,

Allow me to show my love by cleaning up our kids’ mess,

Please extend your attention to that which you want,

Allow me to show you love by giving your heart my compliments kiss,

This love is a love continuum,

It is not a love that I show just today,

This love is a love that I will grow and develop,

Into a passionate love that will never part away,

My dear, my love, my cherished treasure,

Allow me to love you by simply being present,

By playing an active role in our children’s lives,

By always kissing your mind with a sincere compliment,

I will write you poetry for all the days long,

But they will never capture the entirety of your stunning soul,

For my words are what I shall daily adorn you with,

By a love poem that’s active and this is how I would make you feel loved cherished and whole.”
