Pearl Lickfold Knack, 88

Pearl Lickfold Knack, 88, passed to her eternal home on Sunday, Feb. 3, 2019, at Schneidmiller Hospice House in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. She was born to Duncan McGillivray and Linda Hunter McGillivray on July 13, 1930, in Kellogg, Idaho. Pearl attended Coeur d’Alene schools and Kingston High School and Kinman Business College in Spokane, Wash., and married Howard Lickfold on July 31, 1948, in Missoula, Mont.

They made their home in Smelterville, Idaho, where Howard was the constable and owned a shoe repair shop. They later moved to Kellogg, where Howard was a “gypo” miner at Bunker Hill, and later moved to Metaline Falls, Wash., where Howard was also “gypo” miner. In 1959 he worked for Peter Kewitt, building diversion tunnels for dams. The family traveled from Washington, Oregon, California, and Idaho, where they had many adventures and made many friends.

Pearl worked at Silver Mountain (Jackass Ski Bowl) in the restaurant from 1968 to 1969, in the restaurant at the Pik Kwik in Kellogg from 1969 to 1971, and the Wallace Elks Lodge dining room, where she catered many occasions, from 1971 to 1973.

In 1971 Pearl married John Knack in Coeur d’Alene. They lived in Kellogg and Post Falls, Idaho, where they retired in 1983. John died in 2004 and Pearl then made her home with her daughter, Barbara, who was her best friend and companion, and finally her caregiver. Barbara and Pearl lived together for 15 years of fun and happiness. Pearl enjoyed playing cards, reading, knitting, crocheting, sewing, dancing, and she adored her dog, Abby. She also was very artistic and an accomplished chef who loved cooking for her family.

She enjoyed jokes, teasing and pranks. She smiled and laughed every day of her life, right to the last day.

She is survived by her children, Dennis Lickfold, Gail Monticalvo (2007-present) of Post Falls, Barbara Colley of Post Falls and Scott (LeTana) Lickfold of Athol, Idaho; 11 grandchildren: Marvin (Mindy) Lickfold, Bridget Lickfold, Clifford (Shawna) Lickfold, Charity Lickfold, Angela (Neal) Adams, Andrea (Micah) Coring, Brandon (Christina) Lickfold, Zanna (Steven) Tellez-Mendoza, Jamilah Lickfold, Chantelle Lickfold, and Sarah Lickfold; 21 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews and her sister, Linda (Jim) Ufford.
