Helfried Fahrenholz

Helfried was born in Hannover, Germany. He left home at the age of 16 to seek his apprenticeship in the culinary arts. Later on he worked as a chef on a cruise ship. He then came to the United States in 1959, and settled in Los Angeles, Calif. He was a chef and owned several restaurants in Santa Monica, Marina del Rey and Playa del Rey, Calif. He retired in 2005, at which time he was the owner of La Marina Inn, in Playa del Rey.
He enjoyed golf and salmon fishing in Alaska with his buddies. Naturally, he enjoyed cooking and entertaining with his wife, Janet. He had been a Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, resident with his wife since 2016.
Helfried is survived by his wife, Janet; his two sons: Thomas (Maria) and Andreas (Victoria); and his grandchild, Emma.
A celebration of life will be held from 3 to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 16, 2019, at Janet and Helfried’s home in Coeur d’Alene. All friends and family are invited for snacks and beverages.
