Rachel Schroeder scored 20 points for Genesis Prep (10-10), which faces top seeded Lakeside in the championship game on Friday at 6 p.m. at The Courts.
Brooke Stevens and Tess Sutton scored nine points each for Clark Fork, which finishes 9-6.

SPIRIT LAKE — A consistant, deliberate offense, solid defense and very few mistakes helped the No. 3-seeded Wildcats cruise past the No. 2-seeded Badgers in a District 3A opener at Timberlake High School.
The Badgers won both regular-season Intermountain League games against Kellogg, but 5-foot-11 post player Hailey Cheney scored 22 points and grabbed 13 rebounds Wednesday night, putting the Wildcats (10-10) in tonight’s 3A district championship against top-seeded Timberlake.
“Our offense was really organized. We wanted to concentrate on getting the ball down to our posts, and we only have five turnovers in the game,” KHS coach Jana Nearing-Kothe said. “We played pretty consistant all the way through.”
Holly Ansley had eight points to lead Bonners Ferry (15-6), which faces Priest River tonight in a loser-out game. The Priest River-Bonners Ferry winner will face the title game loser Saturday for district’s second berth to state, with the play-in game played at the highest-seeded team.

SPIRIT LAKE — McKeeley Tonkin and Taryn Soumas scored 14 points each for the top seeded Tigers in a win over the fourth seeded Spartans in the opening round of the 3A District 1 tournament at Timberlake High.
Taylor Suko scored nine points and Blayre Jeffs added seven points off the bench for Timberlake (19-2), which hosts Kellogg in the district championship game tonight at 7 p.m.
“Taylor had a really good game off the bench, as did Blayre,” Timberlake coach Matt Miller said. “They ran a junk defense on Brooke (Jessen, who finished with four points), so that limited her a little. We’re a balanced group, so it’s hard to do that against us and we took advantage.”
Karah Fink scored 10 points for Priest River (2-18), which faces Bonners Ferry in a loser-out game tonight at 5:30.

Coeur d’Alene girls
coach placed on leave
Third-year Coeur d’Alene High girls basketball coach Scott Stockwell was placed on administrative leave on Wednesday, and will not coach the Vikings in tonight’s 5A Region 1 second-place game at Viking Court.
Scott Maben, director of communications for Coeur d’Alene Public Schools, said since it was a personnel matter, the school district could not comment further. Stockwell could not be reached for comment on Wednesday.
Assistant coach Nicole Symons will be the acting coach for Coeur d’Alene, which advanced to the regional championship game for the first time in Stockwell’s tenure this season.
Stockwell is 21-39 as coach at Coeur d’Alene.
The winner of tonight’s 6:30 p.m. game pitting Post Falls at Coeur d’Alene advances to a state play-in game on Saturday at 3 p.m. against Meridian at Grangeville High.

Lake City 45
Sandpoint 44
SANDPOINT — Sandpoint fell to visiting Lake City (3-12, 0-5 5A IEL) on a pair of last-second free-throws on Wednesday night.
“Our guys competed every possession,” Sandpoint head coach Wade Engelson said. “They’re a 5A team and we’re a 4A team, and we held them to only 45 points in the game. So our guys battled during the game. We had rough patches in the game, but overall, we’re a much better team than we were when the season began.”
Sandpoint led 14-12 after the first quarter, but went cold in the second. Christian Niemela’s two points helped the Bulldogs avoid getting shut out as Lake City took a nine-point lead into half.
Yet Sandpoint battled back because of a team-wide defensive effort, combined with an offensive resurgence in the second half.
“All five of the guys just battled on defense,” Engelson said. “Any time you’re holding a team to five points in a quarter, you know your team is working hard.”
Alex Stockton’s free throw gave the Bulldogs a 44-43 lead with less than a minute to play. But Brayden Sundstrom was fouled on the next possession and hit both go-ahead free throws.
Sandpoint junior Ryan Roos led all scorers with 15 points, while Lake City’s Dylan Brum and Seth Hanson finished with 11 points apiece.
The Bulldogs’ home-stand continues against Bonners Ferry on Friday. Lake City hosts Post Falls on Friday.

RATHDRUM — A.J. De La Rosa (138 pounds), Ridge Lovett (145), Braxton Mason and Brelane Huber won by pin for the Trojans in a dual against the Hawks at Lakeland High.
“It came down to some matches we should have won, but I’m happy with how the kids wrestled,” Lakeland coach Rob Edelblute said. “They wrestled their tails off. The kids were up for the match and we had three matches that could have gone either way. We just gave up some bonus points that bit us in the butt.”
Hunter Oles (195), Sam Feusier (285) and Riley Siegford (132) had pins for Lakeland.
“Lakeland is a tough team, which we knew coming in,” Post Falls coach Pete Reardon said. “We were looking for a fight, and that’s what we were looking for. We had a couple of matches that didn’t go our way — we were ahead and they put us on our backs.”
