| February 6, 2019 12:00 AM

On Monday, the Coeur d’Alene Charter Academy’s Academic Team won first-place recognition at the Inland Empire Knowledge Bowl, held at Lewis and Clark High School in Spokane.

More than 20 schools from Eastern Washington and North Idaho competed in the Jeopardy-style quiz bowl tournament, which runs a total of five days over the course of several months.

Three teams of four players compete at a time, and are tested on their knowledge of subjects like math, history, fine arts and science. Players try to win points for their team by “buzzing in” the fastest and answering correctly.

This year, Charter finished first with a total of 27 points, followed by Gonzaga Prep in second place with 24 points and Pullman in third place with 22.5 points.
