Sharon Kay Prosch (Benjamin)

Sharon Kay Prosch (Benjamin), fondly known as Punkie to most of her friends and family, went to be with the Lord and meet her beloved Jesus on Jan. 24, 2019. She left this world surrounded by the love of her daughters and family.

Punkie was born Jan. 28, 1945, to Edgar and Alma Benjamin. She was a lifelong resident of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, and graduated from Coeur d’Alene High School in 1964. Punkie’s first job was at Paul Bunyan in downtown Coeur d’Alene, where she met the love of her life, Cliff Prosch. They married July 10, 1964, and had two daughters.

Punkie always enjoyed singing, fishing, camping, reading, having coffee and visiting with friends, and was a Bluebird leader in her daughters’ younger years. She was also a lifelong member of the Eagles.

Punkie leaves behind her daughters, Marlo (Tony) Oslund and Angie (Randy) Hammond; four grandchildren: A.J. (Grace) Oslund, Jake (Talia) Oslund, Sidney Hammond and Jesse (Christina) Hammond; two great-grandchildren: Taven and Tessa Roetcisoender; brother, Alan (Sandi) Benjamin; sister-in-law, Joyce Benjamin; numerous nieces and nephews; a best friend of over 60 years, Julie Wooldridge; and beloved dog, Bandit.

She is preceded in death by brothers, Edgar and Joe Benjamin; sister, Marylou Wagner; and Ralph Smiley, her companion of more than 30 years.

We would like to thank her doctors, Heather Sarkis and Dr. Hoopman, and their nurses, for their loving care and support. Also to Hospice and staff (especially her “tall drink of water.” You know who you are, “HA, HA, HA!”) and her neighbor, Shelly and caregiver, Cindee for all your help over the past year. Also a special thank you to Dwain and Misty Fish and Seth Owen from Heart of the City Church, for all your visits and prayers with Punkie her last month on this earth.

Please join us as we raise Punkie to “The Spirit in the Sky” (her song) with a celebration of life from 1 to 3 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 10, 2019, at the Hayden, Idaho, Eagles.
