Love is in the air
COEUR d’ALENE — Get into the mood for romance this Valentine's Day with a lively love story set to the catchy tunes of ’70s supergroup ABBA.
"Mamma Mia!" opens Feb. 8 as the second production in Aspire Community Theatre's 2018-2019 season.
More than 60 million people worldwide have fallen in love with the characters, the story and the music that make "Mamma Mia!" the ultimate feel-good show. ABBA's hits tell the story of a young woman's search for her birth father. This sunny and funny tale unfolds on a Greek island paradise. On the eve of her wedding, a daughter's quest to discover the identity of her father brings three men from her mother's past back to the island they last visited 20 years ago.
The story-telling magic of ABBA's timeless songs propels this tale of love, laughter and friendship, creating an unforgettable show. A large cast, nonstop laughs and explosive dance numbers combine to make "Mamma Mia!" a show not to be missed. A mother. A daughter. Three possible dads. And a trip down the aisle audiences will never forget!
Talented performers from the Inland Northwest will be sharing the stage — acting, singing and dancing. Amy D’Orazi, a pre-school teacher by day, leads the production. Joining D’Orazi is Callie Cabe, seen in many Coeur d’Alene Summer Theatre productions. Cabe just served as director for the recent Aspire hit, "42nd Street."
Aspire Community Theatre has a live orchestra for its productions, securing some of the area's finest musicians.
Tickets range from $19 to $25 and can be purchased online at www.aspirecda.com or by visiting the Kroc Center box office two hours before performances. Doors open 30 minutes prior to show. "Mamma Mia!" runs through Feb. 17.
The Salvation Army Kroc Center is located at 1765 W. Golf Course Road, Coeur d'Alene.
