Spokane Symphony concert and event tickets now on sale

Tickets are now on sale for the upcoming 74th season of the Spokane Symphony, now led by new music director James Lowe.

Music enthusiasts are able to buy individual tickets for 10 masterworks (formerly called “classics”), six pops concerts and other special events and performances.

The 74th season opens at the Martin Woldson Theater at The Fox, 1001 W. Sprague Ave., Spokane, on Sept. 14 with a performance at 8 p.m. and on Sept. 15 at 3 p.m. of "Masterworks 1: American Rhythms," featuring the music of Gershwin and Copland, with guest pianist William Wolfram performing "Rhapsody in Blue."

Tickets are also on sale for "Michael Cavanaugh: The Music of Elton John with the Spokane Symphony" on Sept. 6 and "The Music of David Bowie with the Spokane Symphony" on Oct. 12, featuring a vocalist and acclaimed Bowie impersonator David Brighten.

The 2019-20 Opening Night Gala honoring Lowe will be Sept. 14 at 5 p.m. at the Historic Davenport Hotel. Guests will be treated to a gourmet meal with wine, life music and a brief program followed by the opening night concert. Single tickets are $150 and proceeds will support the Symphony's annual fund and education programs. Buy tickets by calling 509-464-7076.

Pops performances begin Sept. 28 at 8 p.m. with "James Bond — The Music," conducted by Morihiko Nakahara with guest vocalists Hugh Panaro (a Broadway star) and Morgan James (featured in musical group Postmodern Jukebox). Upcoming pops concerts include "A Celebration of Veterans" in November and two "Holiday Pops" shows with Vanessa Williams in December.

This year's festive Halloween offering is "Ancient Tales of Magic: Music of Harry Potter and Other Halloween Favorites." Performances will be Oct. 26 at 2 and 8 p.m. and Oct. 27 at 3 p.m.

Movies are coming back to the Fox with a new Movies and Music series and live symphony orchestra performances of the scores while movies play on a new giant screen, accompanied by the new sound system. The movies this season are: “Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas,” “Pixar in Concert” and “Star Wars: A New Hope."
