Red Hot Mamas to kick up their heels in Nashville

| November 30, 2018 12:00 AM

The Red Hot Mamas are practicing their “Howdee!” as the dance troop accepts an invitation to perform in Nashville, Tenn.

They will be featured in the 64th annual Nashville Christmas Parade to benefit the Monroe Caroll Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt.

The parade airs on Dec. 1, Nashville WKRN ABC, at 6:30 a.m. Pacific Time with streaming through commercials online at www.WKRN.com.

The “Mamas” are all decked out for Southern style Christmas hootin’ and hollerin’ as they have constructed large Christmas gift-topped, silver cowboy hats, sewn silver stars onto red sequin aprons, and designed baskets filled with teddy bears and gifts to attach and swing around on their walkers. They are all set to entertain the children of all ages along the route. Karen Welts, administrative director for the group says, “Oh boy, we are so excited for this trip. We even have red sequin boot spats to wear at the Grand Ole Opry!”

The Nashville Christmas Parade is one of the region’s most prominent holiday parades.

2018 Grand Marshal is Kid Rock, and a star-studded lineup of performers includes LeAnn Rimes, Craig Wayne Boyd, the winner of Season 7 of The Voice, and Diana DeGarmo, runner-up on the third season of ‘American Idol.’

The event is becoming a top-tier parade with nationwide television coverage. The Christmas Parade includes celebrity performances, elaborate floats built by the Kern Company in New Orleans, helium balloons, groups of singers, dancers, choirs, and marching bands from many states.

The parade travels along the scenic “Musical Mile” with hundreds of thousands of enthusiastic spectators

And they’re off on another great adventure as Idaho’s Ambassadors of Fun. Yee-haw!
