Allen E. Stockwell, 91

Allen E. Stockwell, age 91, a resident of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, died Nov. 21, 2018, at home. Allen was born Feb. 23, 1927, in Sandpoint, Idaho, to Ernest W. and Irene (Harris) Stockwell. Allen served in the South Pacific during World War II in the Army Air Force. After his military service, he met and later married the former Virginia (“Ginny”) Mosman in Clarkston, Wash., on April 17, 1947. They lived in Phoenix, Ariz., and then Washington State, before moving to Coeur d’Alene in 1950.

Allen was a painting contractor, owning and operating Stockwell Contractors, Inc., and Stockwell’s Paint Store for 30 years before retiring. He was a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church, the Eagles Lodge, the Elks Lodge and the Coeur d’Alene Golf Association. He enjoyed golf and basketball, often showing his affection for the referees. He and Ginny loved to travel and were able to see six continents.

Allen is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, David and Debbie of Post Falls, Idaho, and Dan and Deby of Woodinville, Wash.; daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Gus Hallgreen of Coeur d’Alene; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and close friend, Gloria Ulvan of Coeur d’Alene. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ginny, in 2005.

Funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 1, 2018, at St. Thomas Catholic Church, 919 Indiana Ave., Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. English Funeral Chapel, Coeur d’Alene has been entrusted with Allen’s care and services. The family suggests memorials to either the St. Thomas or the St. Pius X food pantries.
