SPIRIT LAKE — Once the Tigers settled down, they were able to get into the flow and execute.
Brooke Jessen scored 19 points and McKeeley Tonkin added 16 for 3A Timberlake in a 53-39 win over the visiting 5A Lewiston Bengals on Tuesday.
“We just settled down and ran our stuff,” Timberlake coach Matt Miller said. “Sometimes, we have trouble gearing down. When we had chances at fast breaks, we took them. But we played well in the half court and really executed well. We were a little spotty in the second half offensively, but had our moments. We rebounded the ball really well and I was happy with how we did on the boards.”
Timberlake (4-0) returns to action Nov. 29 at Sandpoint.
Kendyll Kinzer, who has signed with Fresno State, scored 16 points for Lewiston (0-3).

SANDPOINT — For a night, it felt like indoor track season on Les Rogers Court.
Lake City’s high-pressure defense strolled into Sandpoint, scored six points in the first minute and cruised to a 76-37 victory. The Timberwolves (3-1) forced 27 turnovers thanks to 10 steals by Dejah Wilson and nine by Klaire Mitchell.
“I was pleased,” Lake City coach James Anderson said. “We came out and pressured the ball, which was our big focus tonight. We’re very athletic, and for us to be successful, we need to create turnovers and a fast-paced game.”
Maddie Morgan hit five 3-pointers and led all scorers with 17 points for Sandpoint (0-2), but most came when the Lake City coasted in the third quarter.
“Credit to Lake City,” Sandpoint coach Will Love said. “They got out quickly and got after us, and we weren’t mentally able to respond. One of the things we work on every day is our anti-press, and the kids today just got flustered.”
Mitchell’s 18 points led the way for the Wolves. Wilson added 11 points and three assists.
Lake City returns to action at the Border Clash on Nov. 30 at West Valley High in Spokane.

ST. MARIES — Taylor Elpers scored nine of her 12 points in the fourth quarter as the Hawks rallied past the Lumberjacks in a nonleague game.
St. Maries led 25-15 at halftime before Lakeland outscored the Lumberjacks 40-28 in the second half.
“To scratch out a win after trailing by 10 at the half, I was proud of the girls’ resolve,” Lakeland coach Steve Seymour said. “It was nice to see.”
Katy Ryan scored 15 points — all in the second half — and Melody Loutzenhiser scored 14 points for Lakeland (1-1), which competes in the Border Clash tournament against East Valley at West Valley High next Friday at 3:30 p.m.
Shelby Holder had 17 points and two steals, Madison Cordell 14 points, six assists and two steals for St. Maries (0-3), which travels to Priest River on Tuesday.

GENESEE — Trailing by one point at halftime, the visiting Knights went cold from the field in a nonleague loss to the Bulldogs.
“They made some shots, and we didn’t make very many ourselves in the third quarter,” Lakeside coach Chris Dohrman said. “We just went cold on offense — a lot of good looks, but couldn’t get anything to fall.”
Kamryn Hendrickx scored seven points for Lakeside (0-2), which returns to action next Thursday at Kendrick.
