PROP 2: IFF doesn't get it
Medicaid Expansion for 65,000 Idahoans is a great thing for Idaho. As a previous volunteer and board member for Heritage Health, I have been behind this for years. Reading the article and educating myself about the Idaho Freedom Foundation and their opposition of the law passing into law was truly a disappointment.
Many of us would like less government involvement in our health care process. There is much room for improvement. The Freedom Foundation has no relationship with reality. The needs for some are immediate. I wonder if Mr. Hoffman, IFF president, had a family member with a life-threatening illness in this coverage gap. Would he still oppose the law? Maybe he needs to personally visit with a single parent making minimum wage and they can’t help their sick child.
Private enterprise providing a solution such as Expanded Medicaid is not realistic. Maybe it isn’t the government’s job by some opinions, but right now right here it is our only solution.
