BONNERS FERRY — The Lady Badgers opened up their season at home last Saturday with a 55-42 victory over the visiting Lumberjacks of St. Maries.

Sophomore point guard Holly Ansley started the season on fire, scoring 30 points on 10-of-16 shooting, including 5-of-8 from behind the arc. Ansley also filled up the stat sheet with 10 rebounds, 6 steals and 3 assists.

“Holly has been working on her shooting form and also looking to shoot more. She has been waiting for this first game and was fun to watch.” said head coach Travis Hinthorn.

“We had a game plan but had to change it quickly to adjust to their speed. There were obviously some first game jitters, but we settled down as the game went and overall played well.”

Senior post Jerzie Pluid contributed 9 points and 8 rebounds. Junior post Baylee Blackmore showed a nice touch from the free throw line, making 7-of-10 attempts, and finished with 9 points and 6 rebounds.

Casey Haeg led St. Maries with 24 points.

The Lady Badgers’ next game is home against Wallace on Nov. 29.
