Golf tournament to benefit

Jeff Hinz Scholarship set

The Jeff Hinz Memorial Scholarship Golf Tournament will be held on Saturday, Aug. 4 at The Links Golf Club in Post Falls.

Cost is $100 for a single golfer, $200 for a hole sponsor and $500 for a foursome and hole sponsor. Fees include range balls, cart, two drinks (21-and over), water/soda and lunch.

Proceeds go to the Jeff Hinz Memorial Scholarship.

Hatley wins in Morse Cup;

Bayley in top 20 in amateur

SAN FRANCISCO — Reid Hatley of Hayden Lake, along with Washington State Golf Association teammates Joe Highsmith of Lakewood, Wash., and Eric Ansett of Spokane, won the Morse Cup as part of the Pacific Coast Amateur at The Olympic Club on Wednesday.

The WSGA shot 138-142—280 to win the tournament, the first Washington win since 2009.

Rathdrum’s Derek Bayley, playing with Eagle High product Josh Gliege and Rocky Mountain High of Meridian product Carson Berry, finished tied for eighth with a 150-138—288.

After the first two rounds of individual amateur, Bayley is tied for 19th with a 75-66—141. Hatley shot 73-80—153.

The leader is Austin Eckroat of Edmond, Okla., with a 10-under par 65-67—132.
