Larry Clayton Sumner, 75, was born in Dayton, Wash., on Sept. 14, 1942, to LC and Mildred Sumner. He passed on July 23, 2018, in Coeur d’ Alene, Idaho. Larry proudly served in the United States Air Force for over 10 years; a proud Vietnam Veteran.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Gary Sumner and his brother-in-law, Roger Keith. Larry is survived by his wife, Dorothy, of 54 years of being together; his two children, Lang (Monica) Sumner and Amber Sumner Youmans. Larry also leaves behind four grandchildren, Latasha, Logan, Jaden and Kyleigh and one great-grandchild, Ryder. Larry is also survived by his sister, Janice Keith; sister-in-law, Sherry Sumner and brother, Thad (Robyn) Sumner.

Larry loved his family and had many friends and kids that called him “Dad.” He retired from GTE/Verizon after 30 years. He was also the owner and operator of The Grail for 14 years. Larry loved volunteering with the Explorer Scouts and Children’s Village. One of his greatest accomplishments was donating over 20 gallons of blood. He is loved by many and he will be greatly missed, but for sure we will always remember his stories he told. We will be announcing a celebration of life at a later time.

Yates Funeral Home is entrusted with final arrangements. Please visit Larry’s online memorial and sign his guest book at www.yatesfuneralhomes.com.
