Northern Lakes wins twice, advances to title game

RATHDRUM — Ezra Grigg struck out five in a two-hit shutout for Northern Lakes in a 10-0 win over the Sawmillers of Everett, Wash., at the Panhandle Blazer 18U tournament at Gorton Field.

Jaret Taylor, Dustin Smith and Brandon Gay had two RBIs each for Northern Lakes.

Later, Gay drove in three runs for Northern Lakes in an 11-5 win over the Calgary Redbirds. Smith had two hits and two runs scored and Grigg scored three runs as the Mountaineers used a five-run fifth inning to pull away.

Northern Lakes (18-6-1) faces the Redbirds today in the championship game at 1:30 p.m.
