Coeur d’Alene 3, Hayden 2: Braeden Newby struck out nine as Coeur d’Alene captured the opening game of the best-of-3 district playoffs. Chase Saunders hit an RBI double and Avrey Cherry had an RBI single in the win. For Hayden, Calvin Coppess hit a two-run homer.

Game 2 is today at noon. Game 3, if necessary, is Sunday at noon.

Coeur d’Alene 5, Lewiston 1: Travis Usdrowski struck out 11 and pitched a one-hitter for Coeur d’Alene, which took a 1-0 lead in the best-of-3 series. Casen Miller hit two doubles in the win.

Game 2 is today at noon. Game 3, if necessary, is Sunday at noon.

Lewiston 14, Coeur d’Alene 5: River Stamper hit a two-run single and Ty Collins and Mason Way added RBI singles as Lewiston won the opener of the best-of-3 series.

Blake Faulk and Ryder Bishop each had RBI singles for Coeur d’Alene.
