Tough fifth inning dooms Indians

VANCOUVER, British Columbia — Jesus Severino hit a two-run double to spark a five-run fourth inning for the Vancouver Canadians in a 7-3 win over the Spokane Indians in Northwest League baseball in front of 6,413 at Scotiabank Field at Nat Bailey Stadium on Saturday night.

Francisco Ventura singled to score Jonah McReynolds for Spokane (8-15) in the fifth inning. Spokane has dropped nine straight road games to start the season.

Francisco Ventura capped the scoring in the seventh, scoring on a throwing error by the Vancouver shortstop.

Severino finished with three RBIs for Vancouver (11-12).

The teams play the second of a three-game series today at 1 p.m.
