Wildlife management is an Idaho travesty

Open Letter to the Idaho Governor, Legislature, commissioners, biologists and employees of the Idaho Department of Fish and Game:

In nearly 40 years of hunting in the Great State of Idaho, I have seen the ever-progressive depletion of our once abundant wildlife resource: the magnificent trophy mule deer populations of the Southeast and North Idaho to the spectacular numbers of elk in the Clearwater, Lochsa, Lemhi, Southwest and the Panhandle. They are virtually all gone.

All of you are guilty of ill-managing the precious resource you were entrusted with. I do not know if it is part of a corrupt agenda or just ignorant reliance on a pagan-based science. The depletion of any game species is never caused by lack of habitat. It is caused by predation. Instead of caring for the animals during severe winters with money that has been earmarked for that purpose and reducing the hunting pressure in those areas, you have introduced the nonnative wolf; and, to finish off the rest, you have extended seasons where game is seeking refuge on private ground. You have made the short-term gain of revenue your priority instead of the game animals, which in the long run would have gained more money and support.

Now the ungulate population in Idaho is devastated with very little hope of ever returning to what was, despite what your lies report. I have driven through and hunted most of the western and Midwestern states, and they are rich with wildlife in comparison to our state. In Idaho, it is even rare to see a road kill. The Idaho Department of Fish and Game is obviously the worst in the nation. It is heartbreaking. Our governor and Legislature must hold the Department of Fish and Game accountable and purge the criminals out of every corner.
