SANDPOINT — Sam Holland led off with a double, Ember Dewey sacrificed her to third and Naomi Bradley singled her home with the winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning of the second game as the Sandpoint Bulldogs finished off a sweep of the Lakeland Hawks in 4A Inland Empire League play on Saturday.

Scores were 16-14 and 6-5.

“These young women did exactly what was required of them to win the game,” Sandpoint coach Elizabeth Hawkins-Williams said. “I was so proud of their execution and drive to win today.”

Bri Baldree earned the win in relief for Sandpoint (6-3, 3-0 4A IEL), pitching the final three innings and striking out six. She also had five hits on the day.

In the first game, Tanis Davis threw 4 1/3 innings of relief for the win in only her second appearance of the season.

“Davis really settled in on the mound,” Hawkins-Williams said. “She threw a great game ... she has great movement and changes of speed that kept the Lakeland batters off balance.”

Erin Schwalbach, Mia O’Hara and Abbey Leon each had three hits on the day for Lakeland (6-9, 3-4), which has lost three times in three times to Sandpoint this season, by a combined five runs.

Sandpoint is scheduled to host Moscow on Monday, and visit the Bears on Thursday.
