Jesus Perez and Ryan Ruklic gave the Bulldogs a 2-0 halftime lead on early goals.

“They scored a quick early goal on a defensive mishap and another on a rocket shot into the back of the net,” St. Maries coach Chris Renaldo said. “We put two quick ones in the back of the net and nobody really did anything after that. It was fun playing them and they’ll be a good addition to the league next year.”

LEWISTON — Kayla Inman returned from injury and scored her first varsity goal in the 28th minute to equalize the game, as the Bulldogs controlled the action but could not net a game winner, settling for a draw with the Bengals at Walker Field.

The Bulldogs (3-4-4) out-shot the Bengals 10-1, but an early mistake proved costly in another draw.

“I’m pleased we battled back after giving up a soft goal early. We lacked composure in our attacking third, and just couldn’t finish,” said Bulldogs coach Conor Baranski. “We were very dangerous with through balls to Jezza Hutto. Lewiston’s goalkeeper is very talented, and definitely kept them in the game.”

Sandpoint hosts Lakeland on Wednesday, looking to earn the right to host the 4A Region 1 championship.

First half — 1, Lew, Kallie Mastroberardino (unassisted), 8:00. 2, Spt, Kayla Inman (Yeo Yarnell), 28:00. Second half — None.
