Athol man sentenced in meth bust
Athol resident Todd Bruno was sentenced in District Court Wednesday for one count of trafficking methamphetamine and misdemeanor eluding a police officer.
Bruno, 44, was sentenced to serve up to 20 years in state prison by Judge John Mitchell. Bruno is sentenced up to three years fixed and 17 years indeterminate, with credit for time served.
On Feb. 9, Bruno was stopped by an Idaho State Police trooper for a traffic violation. When Bruno was asked to get out of his vehicle, he first refused and drove off. Because of dangerous road conditions, the trooper was unable to safely follow and Bruno escaped.
However, his vehicle was later located and searched. In Bruno’s vehicle, detectives found 28 grams of methamphetamine.
Bruno had eight misdemeanor convictions and seven felony convictions prior to his arrest, including two prior convictions for distribution of controlled substances, and several probation violations.
