COUNTY: Kudos to election team

Kudos and congratulations to the leadership and all of the staff at the Kootenai County elections office for a job well done! They accomplished an overwhelming task of providing adequate staff, training the poll workers, providing supplies and supporting the 73 districts before and during the election. In addition, they registered and facilitated voting for record numbers of people in the weeks before the election.

Many of us who worked at the precincts were there for 14 hours or more, but when I saw in the paper that the last vote was counted at 4:51 a.m. on Wednesday my day seemed very short.

It was a pleasure to work the election and see the steady stream of people showing up to make their choices and exercise their rights as a voter. It was also a pleasure to register new voters, some voting for the very first time. Everyone was patient, pleasant and energized, and it made the day pass by quickly. I am honored to have been a part of this historic and momentous day.
