Obtaining lasting liberty

We are disappointed by the candidates we must choose in this election. We look at these two candidates and wonder how they got nominated. The answer to that question lies within us as a people.

Our founding fathers told us we must remain virtuous and morally strong in order to survive under a republic constitution. John Adams wrote: "Statesmen may plan and speculate for liberty, but it is religion and morality alone which can establish the principles upon which freedom can securely stand." Adams also wrote, "The only foundation of a free constitution is pure virtue, and if this cannot be inspired into our people in a greater measure, than they have it now, they may change their rulers and the forms of government, but they will not obtain a lasting liberty."

We look the current candidates with mistrust and disdain, yet we cannot expect to have virtuous leaders if we are not virtuous and morally strong ourselves. America was founded on Judeo-Christian values. Every American should take the time and read the writings of our founding fathers and see the biblical principles that are found in them. But over time we have allowed ourselves to be deceived. The Lord says in Jeremiah 9:6, "Through deceit they refuse to know Me."

We have slowly removed God from every aspect of our lives. Paul tells us in 2 Timothy 3:1-4 what we have become, "But know this, that in the last days, perilous times will come: For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God."

We have taken God's design for marriage and flipped it on its head. We no longer value human life itself. We have made good evil and evil good. America, don't be naive in thinking that our nation can continue on this destructive path and expect God not to act. “The instant I (God) speak concerning a nation and concerning a kingdom, to pluck up, to pull down, and to destroy it, if that nation against whom I have spoken turns from it s evil, I will relent of the disaster that I thought to bring upon it. (Jeremiah 18:7-8)

We have been warned! We can choose life or we can choose death.
