VOTE: But not for party
I’ve never had a “trump” card, nor would I bet a penny on this one. A recent mailing with smiling faces of five candidates, Mike Crapo, Raul Labrador, Bob Nonini, Ron Mendive, and Don Cheatham, asks Idahoans to vote for them and for Donald Trump, whose picture seems to show a forced smile. My oh my; it’s certainly difficult to think these five place themselves in the same deck of cards as Trump. He has an ego that Dr. Freud would probably love to examine!
Unfortunately, as Idaho supposedly is a Republican state, most voters will vote for Trump and his supporters. What a sad situation that is. I have nothing against Republicans, Democrats, or any other party. There are politicians who actually want to do “good” for our country, rather than voting along political lines. Whatever their party, they should represent all Americans, regardless of party, ethnicity, religion, or even medical condition. Unfortunately, few do so. In Kootenai County we have a great sheriff, Republican Ben Wolfinger. He cares for all citizens, not only members of his party. His actions represent what all elected officials should do. Most candidates will say that they represent everybody! Possibly a few do, but candidates who say that should look in a mirror to see if their nose grows like Pinocchio’s.
As Election Day draws near, I hope most Americans vote not according to party prodding, but by using their gray cells when they go to the polls! It’s unfortunate that so many voters follow party dictates instead of sensibly voting for what’s best for the country as a whole.
