Alfred 'Al' L. Rouse, 89

Alfred “Al” L. Rouse, 89, passed away at the Hospice House in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, on Feb. 25, 2016.

Al was born in Plattsmouth, Neb., on May 2, 1926, to Marion and Mabel (Arnold) Rouse. Al was raised in Plattsmouth where he graduated high school. He then enlisted in the Navy and served in World War II. After three years in the Navy, Al started work as a carpenter in California. Al married Dorothy Quarterman on Aug. 17, 1946, in Berkley, Calif. In 1978, they moved to Kingston, Idaho, and operated a hay farm for 20 years. He retired in 2009, and they downsized and moved to Coeur d’Alene.

Al loved to hunt and fish.

He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Dorothy; son Allen Rouse of Sacramento, Calif.; granddaughter Crystal Beever; two great-grandsons Ryan and Cody; one brother and two sisters.

Al is preceded in death by his son, Calvin, in 1988.

At Al’s request, no services will be held. English Funeral Chapel, Coeur d’Alene, is in charge of the arrangements.
