Erin Legel

Great Falls basketball

Legel, a 5-foot-5 senior guard from Coeur d’Alene High, broke the 2,000 point barrier with six points in the Argos (19-9, 10-6 Frontier Conference) 44-37 win over Carroll College on Saturday in Great Falls. “When we weren’t very good here, Erin chose to come here and play,” Great Falls coach Bill Himmelberg said. “I told her she had a chance to break a lot of records here and that has come true. There isn’t a girl more deserving than her.” Legel now has 2,002 career points.

Derek Bayley

Washington State golf

Bayley, a sophomore from Lakeland High, tied for seventh to record his fifth Top 25 finish of the year, shooting a 2-under 214 in the John A. Burns Intercollegiate tournament, which concluded last Friday at Lihue, Hawaii. Bayley finished four strokes back of co-champions Beau Hossler and Gavin Hall of Texas, K.K. Limbhasut of California and Skye Inakoshi of Hawaii (-6, 210).
