Humphrey wins, St. Maries
third at 2A wrestling districts
KOOSKIA — Hayden Humphrey won the 132-pound title, and St. Maries qualified 10 wrestlers to state from Saturday’s 2A District 1-2 wrestling tournament at Clearwater Valley.
Matt Morris (126), Hayden Villa (132) and Chad Dickerson (170) each finished second for St. Maries. Reily St. John (113) and Zach Schaum (126) each placed third, and Gage Mitchell (138), Forrest Oughton (145), Caden Hall (152) and Steve Toland (170) each took fourth.
St. Maries finished third with 120 points, behind Orofino (174.5) and Clearwater Valley (124). Wallace was sixth with 56.
Austin McKinnon won the 98-pound title for Wallace, which qualified four wrestlers to state. Shon Hayman (138) and Matt Kopf (182) each placed second, and Brian Davis (160) was fourth.
Smoot to speak to
NIC Booster Club
COEUR d’ALENE — Local entrepreneur Nick Smoot will be the speaker at the North Idaho College Booster Club Luncheon at noon Tuesday at The Coeur d’Alene Resort.
Smoot has spent 13 years in marketing, branding, and strategy. Now Smoot serves as an advisor to companies, large and small, while he also nurtures startup communities through his organization, Innovation Collective.
The NIC basketball and wrestling coaches will also provide previews of the upcoming NJCAA postseason tournaments.
The NIC Booster Club meets twice a month, on the second and last Tuesday of each month. The special NIC Booster Club lunch menu is $10 or less and the public is welcome to attend the luncheon.
