STATE 1A DIVISION II GIRLS BASKETBALL: Lakeside brings home consolation title for second straight year

| February 21, 2016 8:00 PM

NAMPA — At least to some degree, Lakeside’s 37-35 win over Nezperce was a little spooky, in the consolation final of the state 1A Division II girls basketball tournament on Saturday at Nampa High.

The Knights beat the same opponent by the same margin in the same game as last season to take home a trophy.

Talia Hendrickx made a go-ahead basket late in the game — making her only field goal of the game count — which gave Lakeside (17-6) a 36-35 lead. Shortly thereafter, Rachael Arthur made a free throw for an insurance point to give the Knights a two-point lead.

Lillian Rhea scored a team-high 13 points and Cailyn Dohrman added eight points against the Indians.

Nezperce (18-6) was led in scoring by Kourtne Carpenter, who scored 11 points.
