HAYDEN — The city of Hayden is welcoming aboard a new city administrator, but he's not new to the role by any means.

Hayden Mayor Steve Griffitts confirmed Wednesday afternoon that longtime Rathdrum City Administrator Brett Boyer will be filling Hayden's freshly vacant position.

"We are so excited to have Brett Boyer join our team," Griffitts said.

Griffitts said a search committee including himself, former Hayden Mayor Ron McIntire, City Council President Roger Saterfiel, Councilwoman Jeri DeLange, city clerk Vicki Ruthorford and city attorney John Cafferty "looked at scores of applications from throughout the United States" before deciding to hire Boyer.

"Brett's breadth and width of experience and reputation are exactly what we are looking for with the city of Hayden," Griffitts said.

Boyer's first day has not been officially announced because the city council still has to go through the paperwork with him, Griffitts said, but it should be soon.

Griffitts said he's grateful for how supportive Rathdrum Mayor Vic Holmes has been in the process. Boyer has worked at the city of Rathdrum for 10 years.

"Mayor Holmes has been great in supporting us," Griffitts said.

Hayden's former city administrator, Stefan Chatwin, resigned from the position in December after six years with Hayden.

Griffitts said Hayden is blessed to have Boyer join the team.

"He's superb," Griffitts said.
