CLARK FORK — Wade Stevens completed 7 of 9 passes for 147 yards and four touchdowns — all coming to Bryant Moore — as the Clark Fork Wampus Cats beat the Timberline Spartans of Weippe 32-8 on Saturday in the season and White Star League opener for both schools.

“It was a good opening win for us,” Clark Fork coach Brian Arthun said. “Anytime you play a first game of the season, you don’t know quite what you’ve got. We were pitching a shutout on defense, but gave up a score late. We bent, but we didn’t break.”

Clark Fork forced three turnovers on fumbles in the game.

“One thing I preach is taking care of the ball,” Arthun said. “We didn’t have any turnovers and were able to create some.”

Clark Fork will host Clark Fork — a co-op of Superior and Alberton High in Montana — on Thursday.
