Hazel Viola Borsvold, 92
May 28, 1924 — Aug. 19, 2016
Our beautiful mother, grandmother and sister went home to Jesus on Aug. 19, 2016. Hazel was born in South Dakota on May 28, 1924. She received her nursing degree from Swedish Hospital in Minneapolis. As part of her nursing education she was a public health nurse in New York City, something she remembered and spoke of fondly.
She met Norwood in St. Cloud, Minn., when they were both working at the VA Hospital. They were married in 1950 in Los Alamos, N.M. Hazel and Norwood made their home in a variety of places — Los Alamos, Albuquerque, Mountain Home, Shoshone, Boise, Anchorage, Cataldo and Coeur d’Alene. They found adventure in every new place!
Hazel is survived by four daughters: Gail (David) Johnston, Carol (Terry) Christianson, Joan (Dennis) Chamberlin and Teresa (Jonathan) Dinger; brother Lyle Bleeker; sister-in-law Betty Marshall; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; as well as many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 25, 2016, at Christ the King Lutheran Church, 1700 E. Pennsylvania Ave., Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. Her final resting place will be next to Norwood at Riverview Cemetery in Coeur d’Alene. Yates Funeral Home has been entrusted with the care of final arrangements.
