Barbara Ann Esser, 72

Barbara Ann Esser, 72, passed away with family by her side on Aug. 15, 2016, at Kootenai Health in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, following a short illness. Barbara was born Sept. 1, 1943, to parents Robert and Francis Harry.

She grew up in Dubuque, Iowa, attended St. Anthony Catholic School and graduated from Walhert High School in Dubuque. She was on the honor roll through high school, graduating in 1961. Barbara was past president of Jerre O’ Guild for the handicapped children at Rainier School in Buckley, Wash.

Barbara and Richard took in foster children. Barbara wrote poetry and songs. She loved travel, cooking and reading.

Barbara is survived by her husband, Richard Esser; brother Robert and Lorrie Harry of Goodyear, Ariz.; brother Tom and Jeanette Esser of Puyallup, Wash.; sons Conrad and Ryan Esser; daughters-in-law Gillian and Jodie; and grandchildren Austin, Maverick, Alexis and Owen (all from Washington state); and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She is preceded in death by her foster mother, Dorothy Green and daughter Terry Lee Esser.

There will be a celebration Thursday, Sept. 1, 2016, in Tacoma, Wash.
