Beverly Lancaster, 85, longtime resident of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, passed on Jan. 13, 2015.

Beverly was born in Yakima, Wash., on Jan. 7, 1930. She grew up in Selah, Wash., the daughter of Howard and Edith Rhynard. On June 11, 1949, Beverly married her high school sweetheart, Howard Lancaster, also of Selah.

While Howard studied to be a veterinarian, Beverly worked as a secretary for Dr. Barmore at Washington State University. Following Howard's graduation from veterinary college, he entered the United States Army. Beverly and Howard were stationed at Fort McArthur, San Pedro, Calif. There, Beverly and Howard's first child, Brad, was born.

While subsequently stationed at Fort Huachuca, Ariz., Beverly and Howard's second child, Karen, was born. Following Howard's honorable discharge as a first lieutenant, Beverly and Howard relocated to Coeur d'Alene where their third child, Jill, was born.

Beverly and Howard established Howard's veterinary practice, reared their three children, and built a network of much-valued friends.

Beverly was an avid golfer, and she and Howard enjoyed traveling together. In 1991, Beverly joined the PEO, Chapter BF, of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. She remained a member for two decades.

Beverly is survived by her spouse of 65 years, Howard Lancaster; her son Brad Lancaster (Kim), daughter Karen Sayler (Jon), and daughter Jill Schmidt (Dolan); as well as granddaughter Sally Schmidt.
