Timberline takes down Lake City in home invitational
COEUR d’ALENE — Brock Rice dropped 43 points for the Timberline Wolves of Boise, beating the host Lake City Timberwolves 71-61 in the final game of the opening day of the Lake City Invitational on Monday.
Josh Clayton had 13 points and 10 rebounds for Timberline, which faces Lakeland today at 3:30 p.m.
Kyle Manzardo scored 14 points for Lake City (2-4), which faces Kentwood tonight at 5:15.
“We’ve got to defend with more energy and be more aggressive early in games,” Lake City assistant coach Kelly Reed said. “We’ve been getting off to slow starts and it’s carrying into games. We’ve got to start defending better.”
Kenny Louie-McGee added 13 points for Lake City.

Kentwood 73, Post Falls 62: Rayvaugh Bolton scored 17 points to lead the Conquerors past the Trojans on the opening day of the Lake City Invitational.
“Kentwood is a very athletic, disaplined, and well-coached,” Post Falls coach Mike McLean said. “Like most good teams, they made us pay on each mistake we made. That’s what good teams do. They got some easy baskets and that was the difference in the game. We made too many mistakes, and you can’t make mistakes with a team like Kentwood and get away with it.”
Jake Pfennigs had 17 points and nine rebounds, Zach Hillman 19 points and Max McCullough 13 points for Post Falls (5-4), which faces South Kitsap tonight at 7.

Mountain Home (5-2) broke open a 21-21 halftime tie by outscoring Lakeland (3-5) 29-14 in the second half.
“They went on a 12-2 run in the first five minutes of the third quarter,” Lakeland assistant coach Bill Ryan said. “We got it back to (a) four (point deficit), but they pulled away. (Lakeland coach) Dave (Stockwell) told them after the game that hopefully it’s a learning experience. We’re young, and it’s a chance to grow as a team with a pretty inexperienced group at the varsity level. You just take stuff like this and grow from it.”
Kaden Davis scored 13 points, Forest Zubaly had 10 rebounds and five points for Lakeland (3-5), which faces Timberline High of Boise today at 3:30 p.m.
