PREP BASKETBALL: Zubaly, Hawks dump Cheney

RATHDRUM — Forest Zubaly scored 18 points and added nine rebounds to lead the Lakeland Hawks to a nonleague 63-49 win over the Cheney Blackhawks on Monday night.
Andrew Knight added 15 points and five assists for the Hawks (3-4) who face Mountain Home in the first round of the Lake City Christmas tournament on Monday.
Lakeland stretched a seven-point halftime lead to 19 points after three quarters, and was able to cruise to the win from there.
Riley Jones led Cheney with 13 points.

ST. MARIES — Kiefer Gibson led all scorers with 15 points and the Lumberjacks topped the Vikings junior varsity.
Jake Sieler added 13 points and four steals for St. Maries (6-1) which hosts Priest River on Saturday.
Caldb Beggerly led the Vikings with 14 points.
“It was kind of a weird game,” Lumberjacks coach Brayn Chase said. “They played a zone and slowed the game down and we had a hard time adjusting to that.”

RATHDRUM — Senior Faith Bodak scored 11 points and added five rebounds in the Hawks’ nonleague loss to the Blackhawks.
“(Cheney) knocked down five 3s in the first half,” Hawks coach Steve Seymour said. “They shot well from the perimeter, as we got caught helping inside too much.”
Kassadi Bilski added seven points and Savannah Pruitt had two points and five rebounds for Lakeland (3-6) which faces Priest River on Monday at the West Valley Christman Tournament.
