GIFT: Truly from the heart

This past weekend, an anonymous donor dropped off some beautiful outdoor Christmas decorations at the Idaho Youth Ranch, Anchor House Family Counseling Center on Government Way. The community has always been good to us and it is not unusual that we receive drop-off donations from time to time. But we never received one quite like this. We later found a letter, wet from the rain, on our back porch steps. It read:

“I’ve lost 2 sons in the past 4 years. There’s no joy left for me. It is my hope this will bring joy to you. Merry Christmas. PS: They all work, I just took them down 2 days ago.”

This just reminds us that during this busy and festive time of year, many people are hurting. There is sadness, loneliness, and pain for many. Whether an old friend, family member or a complete stranger (especially), a smile, a kind word, an act of charity, compassion, forgiveness... give these. And give these all year long.

To our anonymous donor, we accept your gift; it brings us much joy indeed! We will share this joy with all as they drive by Anchor House and see them. We thank you, and we thank your sons.
