Wesley Howard Lauer, 82
Wesley Howard Lauer, 82, of Pinehurst, Idaho passed away on Dec. 5, 2015 at his home. Wesley was born Jan. 7, 1933 in Garfield, Wash. He was raised in Kellogg, Idaho, by Ernest and Myrtle (Nelson) Lauer.
Wesley was united with Shirlene Stevenson right out of high school, divorced. He married Carol (Wright) Lauer, divorced during military years. He had a love of a lifetime with Eve Gendraux and wishes to have his ashes near hers up Pine Creek Road near Pinehurst.
In 1951 Wesley joined the U.S. Army Corps. He served for 2 years, then enlisted in the U.S. Air Force; retiring from the U.S. Air Force after 22 years of service. He moved back to Idaho in 1979 where he enjoyed every moment of his retirement right up to the day he passed. He loved the outdoors, shooting any one of his guns, fishing and camping in the great North Idaho Panhandle. He would tell everyone he knew, “The day they take our guns away, is the day our country turns to socialism by communist disguise.”
He had an especially calm demeanor, common sense with a knack of reciting jokes, poems and riddles from way back when he was a kid throughout his life. Through his service years he gained discipline and many certifications and awards. He was always trying to get people to move slower, eat slower and enjoy what surrounds us. His last thoughts were of his family and how he was going to tell them he was “On his way to his next great adventure.” His sense of humor, love of nature and considerate way of helping others who just need an ear with a lil’ wisdom attached will be immensely missed by all that knew him.
Wesley is survived by his children, Wesley Lauer II and Antoinette (Flanders) Lauer of South Sioux City, Neb., Nancy (Lauer) Jeffers of Fairfield Bay, Ark. and Rocky Lauer and Janet (Bramlett) Lauer of Shirley, Ark. He is survived by grandchildren Candice Lauer, David Lauer, Daniel Lauer, Jennifer Lieber (Lauer), Travis Lauer, Lacey Lauer and Danny Hales. He is also survived by great and great-great grandchildren Teesha, Erin, Promise, Davion, Gavlyn, Damien, Alexandra, Angel, Branden, Katelyn, Hailey, Layton, Ella, Kash, and Adelaine and by three great-great-great-grandchildren. Wesley was preceded in death by his parents, one wife and his sister Jean Lauer.
Cremation has taken place. There will be a family and friends gathering at 10:30 a.m., on Saturday, March 26, 2016, at his residence in Pinehurst. Please write the time and date on your calendars. Reception to follow.
